I'm fan of 3d worlds especially in VRML, but it's the first time I try it in AJAX. This week I was playing with Hive7, a very nice AJAX based virtual world where you can move in different rooms, meet people online and chat with them. Yes, another AJAX chat application, but what I liked in Hive7 is the dynamism that the application have where you can see people moving and talking in the same time, you can move objects also, play chess ?

When you first enter Hive7, right click on your avatar to register your name, and press Enter in the room to start tchating with others. You can choose your own avatar, and even if the room is crowded the transparency effect make it look really in 3d. You can try the different doors available to move from a room to another, you can add friends to your network. I personaly find it very fast, compared to VRML worlds, also there is no plugin to download or install here, just your browser will be enough. A great 3D experience for the web, but I don't know how easy is creating AJAX Virtual worlds ? I made many in VRML and it was very easy.
