Morfik announces today the ability of WebOS AppsBuilder to develop AJAX applications for iPhone easily. We have previously reviewed the AJAX capabilities of the Morfik's AJAX IDE, and the iPhone support is introduced today thanks to the Scriptor's Plastic Layout architecture implemented in Morfik AppsBuilder.

Scriptor, which currently comes with predefined support for Salesforce.com S-Control Objects, Yahoo Maps, Google Maps and Google Search, will have a new iPhone option in due course to make it even easier for developers to create AJAX applications for iPhone - once Apple's provides more information on APIs.

The first Morfik application for iPhone is iChess, works perfectly on the current Safari 3 beta and uses Amazon EC2. There is a feature that you probably won't notice, try after opening the iChess link to disconnect from the internet and see that you can still play even offline. This is not full offline support since there is no local storage and synchronization API available yet, but it will be added in time. Below the press release:
